Mobile Scanner Guide
VMX - 250
General Information
The new RIEGL VMX-250 is an extremely compact and user-friendly Mobile Scanning System for highly accurate and high resolution dynamic 3D data collection as a basis for a variety of applications, like mapping of highways, railroads, waterways as well as extended urban and vacant areas.
The compact design of the RIEGL VMX-250 consists of a roof-carrier-mounted platform with two RIEGL VQ-250 scanners, INS, and mounting points for digital cameras or video equipment.
The turnkey system RIEGL VMX-250 includes scanning and inertial navigation hardware, and all relevant RIEGL software packages allowing thorough and seamless processing of the scan data from acquisition to system calibration, geo-referencing, and pre-processing.
The output is a survey grade 3D point cloud in a common coordinate system, e.g., WGS84. All that is optimized for easy installation onto a standard station wagon or offroad car, and powered directly from the vehicles' battery/alternator system.

Data acquisition and operator control is accomplished through the use of a standard latptop, directly connected to the control unit.
The extraordinary "Full Circle" V-Line laser scanner Riegl VQ-250, the key component of the RIEGL VMX-250, catches the eye with its extremely high measurement rate of 300,000 meas./sec. and its scanning rate of up to 100 rotations/second, performing non-contact profile measuring by an invisible, infrared laser beam over 360 degrees without any gaps.
High performance pulsed laser ranging, based on RIEGL's proprietary echo signal digitization technology with subsequent online waveform analysis, results in superior measurement capabilites even under adverse conditions and in excellent multiple target detection, up to a maximum unambiguous measurement range of several hundred meters on natural targets.
In other words: objects like buildings, infrastructure and others can be surveyed accurately, even if partially hidden by fences, trees, bushes or other hindering objects.
